Job Description:

This role is responsible to develop, own, execute and implement the global sourcing strategies and the negotiations for ~$85M in spend (specific modes include open deck, LTL, intermodal, small parcel) continuously in support of the business's strategic objectives. This individual is also responsible for elevating areas of opportunity specific to mode & network optimization to the logistics operational excellence team in addition to participating to support the execution of these activities. This role is responsible to mentor others based on their experience within the logistics industry to support deep succession planning and development of their team.

Relocation is being offered to those that qualify under the JM relocation policy.

Your Day-to-Day:

* Develops, owns, executes and implements the global sourcing strategies & the negotiations for logistics modes with an annual spend of ~$85M * Must have a solid working command of contract language and is able to write a contract, determine missing clauses and form strategic clauses to minimize risk to the business. Supply agreements must support the businesses strategic objectives. * Works collaboratively & cross functionally across the logistics team and within our business teams to meet and exceed objectives. * Builds strategies that are designed to reduce operational costs, and/or create efficiency improvements, forwards logistics cost productivity while balancing service. * Measure Key Performance Indicators designed to understand performance (balancing cost & service) of established objectives such as on-time delivery, cost per mile, project productivity, actual vs. plan costs, carrier performance scorecards, etc. * Lead, instruct and develop others in the production, analysis, and interpretation of complex metrics and modeling associated with financial (including inflation & purchase price variance), cost, and performance metrics of transportation and logistics activities. * Manage transportation objectives, plans, and development projects * Lead and mentors' others in advance thought and approach to complex logistics concepts. * Communicate complex Logistical concepts to others in the organization * May be required to perform other related duties as assigned * Audits for cost precision: that negotiated pricing & carrier prioritization is being achieved. * Applies Lean/Six Sigma methodologies

What You Bring to the Table:

* Bachelor's degree with total work experience of at least 15 years including a minimum of 10 years of increasing responsibility in Transportation and Logistics positions OR Bachelor's degree with total work experience of 15 years including a minimum of 10 years of integrated supply chain experience (with 7 years of transportation and logistics positions or responsibility) * Demonstrates expert knowledge of logistics principles and transportation procedures (Expert) * Excellent contract negotiation skills (expert) * Advanced knowledge and application of transportation modes and procedural practices (Solid) * Advanced and detailed knowledge in analysis of Logistics and Transportation costs and related financial activities (Solid) * Ability to produce, analyze, and interpret complex metrics and modeling associated with financial, cost, and performance metrics of transportation and logistics activities (Solid) * Ability to apply advanced experience and knowledge in the development of forward strategic initiatives and cost containment activities (Solid) * Lean/Six Sigma certification/experience preferred * Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook (Solid) * Working knowledge of SAP or ERP systems (Solid) * Solid interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills * Strong leadership skills (Solid) * Ability to work independently and in a team environment (Solid) * Ability to interface with all levels of the organization, both internally and externally * Moderate travel required (20% per year) * Work environment is typical of an office setting * Experience negotiating in the open deck industry is highly preferred. * Incumbent must be physically able to perform essential job functions. Applicants can expect to make between $96,000 to $132,000 upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for a target incentive bonus under our variable incentive plan.

This position is eligible for a flexible work arrangement in which, by way of example, an employee's work week may include both some days at the employee's assigned company work location and some work days performed remotely from the employee's home. The schedule of remote work will be based on business and work needs as determined by management.

Applicants can expect to make between $99,000 to $136,000 upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for a target incentive bonus under our variable incentive plan.
