Job Description The Summit Site Supervisor will coordinate
Greenland field operations during the main field season and will
plan, organize, and direct the daily operations of Summit Station;
review, develop, and communicate Logistics Contractor policies and
procedures to staff and research community; and coordinate with
station personnel to ensure successful implementation of tasking
and research support daily. This is a 3/4 time full-time,

programs across the planet. Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize and direct operations for research support and
station facility operation and maintenance following PFS-provided
guidelines.
- Prioritize daily activity in response to schedule revisions or
other changes to meet timelines. Analyze situations to adopt an
effective course of action.
- Serve as station safety lead and set travel restrictions based
on weather conditions and station policy. Ensure check-in protocols
are trained and utilized for all personnel.
- Oversee activities of all station personnel to ensure risk
management is incorporated into planning for all areas. Establish
‘house mouse" schedule for station personnel.
- Communicate with researchers on their support requirements and
adjust activity schedules to provide a high level of support.
- Coordinate with Construction and Maintenance leads to ensure
schedules are clearly communicated and deconflicted with science
and operations activities.
- Coordinate support to aircraft operations on-station and with
Kangerlussuaq staff.
- Conduct a daily meeting to review or assign station priorities
as well as a weekly safety meeting. Participate in and provide
guidance to the Emergency Response Team.
- Maintain frequent communication with offsite station leads:
Site Manager, Science Project Manager and GL Maintenance Lead.
Complete a verbal daily check-in with offsite Point of Contact
every day of the year.
- Provide an arrival orientation to all arriving on station.
- Coordinate resupply and inventory with Summit Site
Manager.
- Maintain station logs and documentation, to include passenger
movement, fuel quantity, station inspections, waste tracking,
incident reporting, etc.
- Compile a weekly report and submit to the Site Manager.
- Complete closeout checklists for station personnel. Provide
transition information to the incoming site supervisor, to include
medic transfer and appropriate pass down of records, station status
and personnel responsibilities.
- Participate in station operations, maintenance, and house mouse
tasking. Assign personnel as needed for support during busy
periods.
- Adhere to all Employee Health, Safety and Environmental
policies and procedures. Report and document any incidents
immediately. Manage and coordinate work schedules to incorporate
HSE protocols to mitigate risk.
- Abide by Clean Air policies and document any incursions.Minimum
Qualifications:
- Any combination of education, experience, and training to a
college degree and/or five years of relevant work experience that
includes remote field experience.
- Must possess a current and valid State issued driver's license
with insurable Department of Motor vehicle record (parking
violation, minor driving offenses excluded) as determined by PFS's
insurance provider.
- Possession of current and valid US passport.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Polar Field
Services cannot sponsor employment-based work visas.
- Good verbal communication skills, computer literacy, and
problem-solving skills.
- Wilderness First Aid Certification or Wilderness First
Responder Certification preferred.
- Familiarity with aviation and aircraft scheduling and
operations preferred.
- Intermediate computer skills are required, advanced
preferred.
- Possession of Hazardous Material Shipment Certification is
preferred
- At least one season of experience working in Arctic/Antarctica
with direct experience working in a field camp in polar
environments is preferred.
