DESCRIPTION Michael Baker is actively seeking an entry level engineer-in-training who will provide technical assistance with drainage and water resources tasks including data review, site review, data analysis, design and plan production. The successful candidate will work on teams to prepare hydrological & hydraulic calculations and modeling, assist with preparing technical reports, technical exhibits and design drawings. This role will expose the engineer to a wide range of interesting applications under the supervision of experts and industry leaders in Transportation Drainage and Water Resource Engineering. The majority of your day would be spent on a team performing various tasks- from developing hydrologic and hydraulic models, to preparing plans with the latest CADD platforms, specifications and estimates. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop technical abilities in analysis and design of common water resources tasks such as design of storm water management BMPs, storm drainage systems, open channels, closed conduit hydraulics, bridge hydraulics, scour analysis, floodplain evaluation, and design of water quality BMPs.
  • Prepare hydrological and hydraulic calculations and models.
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, drainage reports, and exhibits.
  • Work in a project office as part of a multi-discipline team.
  • Make trips to project sites to evaluate progress and status.
  • Support local and regional alternative delivery projects.
  • Learn local agency and DOT design criteria and standards. PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
    • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
    • 0-2 years of professional experience required
    • Strong Technical Skills including experience with hydrologic and hydraulic processes and computer programs.
    • Long term interest in stormwater and/or drainage related field
    • Strong Verbal and Communication skills.
    • Ability and attitude to work in a team environment
    • Engineer-In-Training Certificated Required within 6 months
    • Computer skills: Microsoft Office, analysis software such as HEC-RAS, HY-8, Bentley Pondpack or similar (i.e. ICPR, PONDS), CUHP/SWMM models, Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, StormCAD
    • Ability to travel to support alternative delivery projects throughout the western region (approximately 10-20% travel may be required).
    • COMPENSATION The salary range for this position is $60,447 - 90,671. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate. BENEFITS We offer a comprehensive benefits package including:
