Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.

Surgical Technologist Traveler - University of Colorado Hospital, Aurora, CO - Anschutz Medical Campus Operating Room

Need for Surgical Technologist Traveler. 38 bed OR unit. Level 1 trauma center. Heavy orthopedic and ENT cases. Mostly adult patients.

Preference: Sports Medicine, Orthopedic, and ENT experience as a Surgical Technologist Traveler

Work Schedule:

Days 0645-1915 or 0645-1715 with late stays after shift until 2115 to cover late rooms when needed no more than 6 in a 8 week period.

Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays

2 years CST OR experience preferred.

Responsibilities:
Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.

Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments. Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.

Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.

Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

  * Surgical Assistant
• Other information:
  Minimum Required Education: High School diploma or GED. Surgical Technologist program.
  Required Licensure/Certification: State Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist registration. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider. Preferred: Certified as a Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
  Minimum Experience: 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience.
• BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.)

The pay range for this position is: $30.00 / hour + travel stipend/package.

An annual bonus may be paid to eligible employees based upon organizational and individual performance.
