Access Center Specialist

Processes high volume interactions with physicians throughout the
health system and outside facilities. Ensures legal and regulatory
compliance with admission procedures. Completes manual and
automated documentation required for admission. Liaisons with
referring physicians and facilities.
Work Schedule: Full Time (36 hours a week, 72 hours per pay
period), Rotating Shifts
Answers incoming and initiates outgoing calls, focusing on
excellent customer service. Arranges admissions and transfers
according to Access Center procedures.
Determines medical necessity, appropriate level of care, and
ensures legal and regulatory compliance with admission procedures.
Ensures compliance with EMTALA regulations for transfers.
Conducts interviews with referring physicians to identify whether
an external transfer is emergent or non-emergent. Establishes
conference calls between referring physicians and attending
physicians to obtain clinical acceptance or denial of a
Notifies inpatient units regarding estimated time of arrival of
transfers. Adds and updates records in database. Works with staff
to facilitate admissions and transfers. Ensures continuity by
giving an accurate report to the oncoming shift. Completes
necessary documentation for the admission. Assists with training of
staff as requested.
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive
judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be
able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate

healthcare related field.
The pay range for this position is: $15.30 - $20.86 / hour.
An annual bonus may be paid to eligible employees based upon
organizational and individual performance.
