  Northrop Grumman Space Systems - Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Software Engineer - Global Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.
  Position Overview:
  The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations.
  This is for a Principal Software Engineer on the C2BMC JEMINI program. Primarily responsible for software development using Java. Work independently or with a small group and be flexible in a highly dynamic and ever-changing environment.
  Essential Functions:
  
  • 
    
  • Knowledge of software practices and coding standards.
    
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including reviewing performance issues, identifying root causes, and recommending and developing a solution.
    
  • Provide in-depth analysis and technical support of an extensive, distributed system written in Java.
    
  • Perform complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, integration, and user support for a large code baseline.
    
  • Follow specifications to develop or modify functionality within the code.
    
  • Assist with design, benchmark testing, debugging, and documentation.
    
  • Interface with other system support groups to resolve problems, set standards, and improve efficiency.
    
  • Design, code, test, and implement tools for automation.
    
  • Command and control system application development.
    
  • Experience with message translation software.
    
  • Automated test and pipeline development experience.
    
  • Experience designing and developing microservices and deploying with containers.
    
    Basic Qualifications:
    
    • 
      
    • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience, or 9 years of related experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
      
    • Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD issued secret security clearance at the time of application.
      
    • Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs.
      
    • Experience working as part of an Agile team.
      
    • Familiarity with Java Spring.
      
    • Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker/Kubernetes.
      
    • Knowledge of server-side development and message passing.
      
    • Experience developing enterprise applications.
      
    • Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasks.
      
    • Use of standard software development and management tools such as:
      
    • Git, Nexus, JIRA, Confluence, Maven, Gradle, Eclipse.
      
    • Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and UML diagrams.
      
    • Development of software for Unix/Linux and Windows platforms.
      
    • Experience with Software Integration testing, including developing automated test scripts.
      
    • Experience with Risk Management Framework/STIG/Fortify mitigation.
      
      Preferred Qualifications:
      
      • 
        
      • Masters degree in engineering focused discipline is highly desired.
        
      • Current and active TS/SCI is highly desired.
        
      • DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher is highly desired.
