Job Summary and Qualifications The Surgical Techniciandemonstratesthe knowledge and skills necessary to function in the scrub role during surgical procedures performed in the department. The Surgical Technician is experienced in allaspectsasaseptic technique, setting up the required equipment and sterile supplies as needed for their assigned cases; pulling cases as needed; and breaking down cases at the end of the procedure. He/she is knowledgeableregardinginstrumentation, equipment, and supply needs for all types of surgical procedures.The Surgical Technicianmaycome in contact withmedications and therefore mustdemonstrateunderstanding of proper medication management and storage as well asmaintaininga secure medication environment. The Surgical Technician may rotate to other areas other thansurgery, andwill perform those duties for which he/she hasdemonstratedcompetency. TheSurgical Technician performs delegated duties consistent with his/her scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan for Sky Ridge Medical Center (SRMC). The Surgical Technician follows and supports SRMC policy and procedures. The Surgical Technician displays positive support for the values and mission of SRMC. The Surgical Technician provides education on procedures, instrumentation, and equipment as needed. The Surgical Techniciandemonstratesadvanced resource skills for equipment and instruments.
