Applicants only Position Highlights: NT6 Observation Number of beds
on unit: 35 Patient population (age, diagnosis, specifics about
unit): The Observation Unit is a 35-bed unit that provides acute
care for issues ranging from cardiac, to general surgery, to
behavioral health. These patients receive holistic care that
reflect the values and mission of Carle Foundation Hospital.
Patients’ goal length of stay is 24-48 hours. Nurse to Patient
ratio: 1:5-6 Department culture and resources: The Observation unit
is a fast-pace, team-oriented unit. We work closely with our
physician partners and ancillary team members to achieve the best
outcomes for our patients. We have a robust Partnership Committee
that meets monthly. We have a unit-based educator, 2 nurse
supervisors, charge nurses and a discharge nurse. Frequent nursing
skills/equipment used: Foley/IV/NG insertions, Nursing
prioritization, IV pumps, Lift equipment, SCDs, Telemetry
monitoring, Patient connection Qualifications Certifications: BLS
within 30days RN License upon Hire , Education: Nursing Diploma ,
Work Experience: RN > 1YR Responsibilities Performs all
responsibilities and duties required by unit as specific to the
scope of service. Implements procedures and theories related to the
specific area of practice. Maintains up-to-date and accurate
documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of
information for use by the healthcare team. Completes initial
assessment upon patient admission and develops appropriate plan of
care in accordance with unit standards and that is based on patient
and family needs. Implements plan of care, nursing interventions,
and patient care procedures. Modifies plan of care based upon
continuous evaluation. Takes responsibility for patient and
employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and
incidents. Communicates with others directly and in private when
necessary to resolve issues. Offers constructive feedback to assist
in the professional development of peers and confers with
colleagues to expand knowledge base. Identifies own learning needs
and takes initiative to begin appropriate solution. Fulfills all
requirements of departmental competencies. Assess IV sites every 4
hours. Start new IVs per Carle policy Must maintain documentation
standards as evidenced by passed quarterly chart audits Must attend
5 out 6 staff meetings per year Identify change in patient status

this position is $35.22per hour - $60.58per hour. This represents a
good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of
posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a
candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but
not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications,
location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
