Unit Description: Surgical Specialties
Together, Surgical Specialties and the Critical Care Annex (Trauma)
units comprise a total of 52 beds over the span of two floors.
These dynamic, highly engaged sister units service patients
requiring hospitalization before and/or after a wide variety of
surgical procedures, as well as post trauma. We work alongside
world class surgeons, in a level I trauma center to provide expert
care to 7 different surgical lines of service including surgical
oncology, trauma, urology, bariatrics, endocrine, colorectal, and
general surgery. On the Surgical Specialties and Critical Care
Annex (Trauma) units, we believe that collaboration is key;
allowing staff such as nurses, aides, physicians, and case
management to work together as a successful and thriving team. Our
health care practice is evidence based, meaning patients receive up
to date, cutting edge care. The typical nurse-to-patient staffing
ratio on these units range from 1:3 to 1:5.
Work Schedule: PRN Rotating
- Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and
supervised by an RN, including but not limited to, monitoring vital
signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and
- Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities
of daily living, including but not limited to, bathing, grooming
- Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and
emotional conditions to nursing staff.
- Assists with keeping unit(s) and patient rooms stocked, clean,

decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal
supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and
take appropriate action.
- Minimum Required Education: Enrolled in an accredited Nursing
program and in good standing. Must have successfully completed
Med/Surg 1 at time of application with the ability to provide
transcript with grade.
- Required Licensure/Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS)
Healthcare Provider. Relevant certification as determined at
- Minimum Experience: None required.
- BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red
Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before
start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of
hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either
the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for
the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional
Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be
through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.)

The pay range for this position is: $18.54 - $24.10 / hour. Pay is
dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
An annual bonus may be paid to eligible employees based upon
