Summary -- Travel RN STICU Surgical Trauma ICU University of ColoradoHospital, Aurora, COSurgical/TraumaICU (STICU)This 24-bed unit provides care for the critically illclients who require intensive observation following surgery or trauma. We admittrauma patients, a variety of post-surgical patients, liver transplants, andliving liver donors. The unit provides hemodynamic, respiratory, andneurological monitoring as well as intensive therapeutic modalities, sedation,and pain management. The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is based on patientacuity.Travel RN STICUASAP start Day/night rotation1-2 years ICU direct care RN experiencePreferred STICU experience; ACLS and BLS certifications requiredCCRN preferredWe prefer ICU candidates haveexperience with Swan-Ganz catheters (PA catheters) and pacers. Our UCH RN Travelers also reap the rewards and benefits oftravel nursing.Job Duties Plans,implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment tooptimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Monitors,records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Collaborates asneeded across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patienttransfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs. Evaluateslearning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family educationappropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Effectivelydelegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses andnew hires. Skills and Abilities: Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills,decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must beable to work in a fast paced environment, and take appropriate action. FollowsStandard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse Program if less than three (3) years' experience.
• 6 months nursing experience (in an acute setting)
• State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and any relevant unit specific certification requirement.
• BLS and ACLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR and ACLS card must be good through sixty days of hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.) Preferred Qualifications Bachelor'sDegree in Nursing Experiencein a teaching/academic hospital Two years TravelRN experience Due to Point of Care Testing duties associatedwith this position, upon hire, a copy of highest level of education (diploma,degree, or transcripts) would be required to present to the hiringmanager.
