Manages an underwriting staff in Surety and is accountable for the
business results through profitability, business development,
analysis and monitoring of a book of business. Under general
management direction, works within broad limits of authority
requiring a high degree of technical complexity and coordination.
May have regional, industry segment or company-wide scope of
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental
Manages the work activities, performance and development of
Coaches, leads and develops underwriters and participates in the
development of underwriting training.
Makes recommendations on underwriting policy and pricing strategy
Reviews and manages the application of underwriting policy and
pricing for all risks within an assigned book of business.
Prepares and presents operational reports to management.
Drives regional and branch initiatives and business strategies.
May market products and services through agencies or through the
Develops, maintains and cultivates agency and/or broker
relationships to ensure positive and profitable outcomes.
Keeps current on state/territory issues and regulations, industry
activity and trends. May participate in industry trade groups.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Education and Experience
1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Professional
designations preferred.2. Typically a minimum eight years
$114,000.00 - $142,500.00
