Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Wireless Engineer is part of the DISH Wireless Device Solutions Engineering organization and is responsible for helping define and prioritize key features within the DISH Wireless 5G device strategy. This position will control & publish all documents related to device requirements, roadmap, and test plans ensuring the successful feature alignment and integration with chipset / device / infra onto DISH's first of a kind mobility cloud-native RAN/CORE 5G network. DISH's vision for its 5G SA network is to utilize O-RAN and cloud-native core technologies operating on a distributed, flexible compute platform. The Sr. Wireless Engineer will be part of the team responsible for ensuring that device, chipset, and network features come together in support of this vision. ResponsibilitiesSubject matter expert on 5G device requirements, test plans, and features, including ability to write requirements / test plans and provide technical expertise on feature lock-down with device OEMsWork closely with chipset/RF vendors, OEMs, and O-RAN vendors in defining / influencing device/network technology roadmap and feature planning to align with DISH Wireless business objectivesWork closely with Dish Technology, RF, Engineering, Ops and Deployment Teams to support launch of 5G SA network, including PoCs/Trials/IODT/IOT/FOA, etc Work with DISH standards organization to influence / understand long term features in 3GPP rel17, rel18, etc and map out strategy to meet DISH Wireless business objectivesWork closely across engineering and product teams to come up with comprehensive requirements, solution architecture, and designs.Focus on N+1 and beyond managing and driving the strategic programs/projects to make sure the team delivers solutions and options for the business long term success.Deep technical expertise in one or more of the following areas:PHY including latest OFDM numerology and RF modulation schemes for 5G NRL2/L3 including MAC/RLC/PDCP/SDAP and control signaling (e.g. RRC/NAS)Carrier Aggregation and Dual-Connectivity in SA / NSA, and legacy LTE networksMassive MIMO / Beamforming from UE perspectiveE2E Call Flows including handover support across N3IWF, EPS, and 5GCVoNR and EPS FallbackNetwork slicing / URSP / NSSFLocation-based services, including e911, z-axisLow latency architecture (e.g. URLLC) for industrial automation, IoT, and XR5G MEC architecture, from UE to Edge serversBattery saving features on the UE side (e.g. CDRx, Reduced BWP, etc.)May be called on to present to executive level in various teams as needed.Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and cooperate in teams, projects, and cross-functionally to achieve results. Skills, Experience and RequirementsDegree in Electrical, Computer, or Telecommunications Engineering (Masters or PhD preferred)5+ years of experience in the wireless telecom industry with a service provider, chipset vendor, and/or device OEM architecting and deploying end-to-end cellular services to connected devices5-7 years in deep technical role, as an engineer/architect, R&D systems, product management and/or related areaStrong knowledge of device requirements, test plans, and end-to-end solutions for 4G/5G architecture across RAN and Core network.Familiarity with 3GPP & GSMA standards and associated 4G/5G Radio Access Networking technologies.Proficiency with 4G/5G device services (e.g. IMS/SMS/RCS/eUICC/SIM/OTA-DM/VoLTE/VoNR/VoWiFi/e911/RTT/CMAS) and associated device chipset and core networking architectures and technologies.Curious mindset striving for continuous learning and innovationProven problem solving skills; verbal and written communication skills are essentialExperience in a high-availability, fast-paced environment.
