All current and newly hired employees are required to follow onsite safety measures based upon the COVID\-19 Community Level at the specific work location\.**Description:** The Space Operations Simulation Center \(SOSC\) is a NASA recognized 6DOF GN risk reduction test facility for Rendezvous, Proximity Operations and Docking \(RPOD\) missions\. The facility is a sophisticated, high\-fidelity laboratory designed for testing hardware\-in\-the\-loop relative navigation systems\. Using six degree\-of\-freedom \(6DOF\) mechanisms, or robots, that precisely maneuver throughout a large ultra\-stable high bay, the SOSC is capable of simulating full scale spacecraft relative motion to another object or point in space\. The carrying capacity of the robots and range of motion allow for integration of complete sensor suites and spacecraft systems\. The SOSC team is made up of technical experts from Robotics, GN, Electronics, and Mechanical/Manufacturing disciplines which design and execute high fidelity space simulations for LM customers\.A qualified candidate will assist in the daily operations of the SOSC including robotic operations, participate in research and development assignments, and assist our various customers on their larger program efforts\. The candidate will significantly participate in the design and development of a new, state of the art, robotic control system and the continued development of a force torque/feedback test capabilities\.A qualified candidate will be expected to support implementation and operation of the following laboratory systems; Symmetricom Master Timing Systems, Spatial Analyzer laser Alignment System, Kuka Robot Control System, Dewetron Data Acquisition Systems, ClearCom Communications System, fiber optic networks, Ethernet networks including TCP and UDP protocols\. Previous experience with these systems is not required\. However, a demonstrated aptitude with some or all equivalent systems would be highly desired\. Additional experience in instrumentation for test is also required, including familiarity with the operation of electronic test equipment including but not limited to accelerometers, laser power meters, and oscilloscopes\. Fundamental knowledge of Guidance Navigation and Control systems, especially related to GN sensors, is highly desired\.Qualified candidate must be able to lift 60 lbs\., capable of working on elevated platforms, able to successfully complete Environmental, Safety and Health\(ESH\) required skills training, such as the operation of Personnel Aerial Lift Devices \(PALD\), bridge cranes, Laser Safety and affiliated eye exams, Material Handling and other modules\.This position requires occasional night and weekend support of customers during test campaigns\.Experience and skill in customer interaction and presentation is desired, and will be expected\. The ability to work within a team of diverse skillsets is highly desired as is the discipline to thoroughly complete the tasks at hand, including closeout and maintenance\.**Basic Qualifications:**--- Experience working in a lab environment--- Fundamental knowledge and experience in the design of electrical and electronic circuits--- Support the design and development of specialized interfaces to sensors and effectors, both as operational elements and units under test\.--- Experience with common sensor interfaces such as RS422, RS232, Camera Link, 1553, LVDS, GigE, and FireWire--- Experience developing timing systems for synchronizing multiple elements of a test network including data acquisition units, sensors, and robots\.--- Able to lift 60 lbs\., work on elevated platforms, operate machinery \(see Job Description\)--- Excellent written and verbal communication skills**Desired Skills:**--- Experience working with multimeters, oscilloscopes, SCADA systems--- Robotics/Kinematics/Mechatronics background--- Embedded programming experience--- Good understanding of mathematical and physics modeling--- STK experience--- Familiarity with BLDC \(servo\) control--- Familiarity with industrial environments--- Fundamental understanding of three\-dimensional mathematics \(Euler, quaternions\)--- Excellent customer Interface with NASA and Military Customers--- Ability to lead a test campaign interfacing directly with technical and non\-technical customer personnel**BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:**job\.Qualifications**Lockheed Martin is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer\.
