Job Description:

UDR, Inc. is now hiring a Corporate Accounting Specialist to join our team at our corporate office in Highlands Ranch. GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Maintain retail tenant ledgers, perform accounts payable and accounts receivable procedures, and assist with general monthly accounting processes. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports directly to the Corporate and Retail Accounting Supervisor SUPERVISION EXERCISED: N/A ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Code, enter and deposit all checks received into PeopleSoft/Yardi accurately and timely.2. Record any necessary charges or adjustments to the tenant ledgers for retail properties in Yardi.3. Verify and confirm coding and approvals for retail related invoices and create vouchers in PeopleSoft. Monitor that all retail invoices are being paid timely.4. Prepare and record journal entries in PeopleSoft. Review and verify the accuracy of journal entries to various financial records.5. Take ownership of all assigned month-end close processes and responsibilities and ensure their accurate and timely completion.6. Assist in completing various administrative, accounting, and other financial reports and reconciliations.7. Work with outside consulting agencies to assist in reviewing and completing quarterly and year-end audits and ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley documentation and testing requirements.8. Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures. Knowledge and appreciation of business concepts and requirements. Ability to apply policies and procedures to solve everyday Company issues. Knowledge of basic accounting/bookkeeping practices; office practices and procedures; filing and maintenance of fiscal records. Perform duties that require strong comprehension, analytical, research, composition, communication, and organizational skills. Must have a strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet critical deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to create, compos, and edit written materials. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions common inquires or complaints. Ability to work in conjunction with Company managers and associates. Knowledge of PeopleSoft, computer systems, and applications. Skilled in the use of spreadsheet, relational database, and word processing software. Ability to process computer data, maintain databases and to format and generate reports. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Occasionally lifting items weighing up to 30 lbs. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Extensive data input and required ability to sit for long periods of time. Regular and consistent attendance on the job is an essential function. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or other Business related field, or its equivalent experience, preferred.2. Minimum of two to three years' related experience required.3. Experience with PeopleSoft and Yardi systems preferred.4. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).5. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license unless otherwise noted.
